Four Chicago Men Charged After Early Morning Gaming Cafe Burglary and High-Speed Chase Across West Suburbs

Four Chicago men face multiple felony charges following an early Thursday morning break-in at an Addison gaming cafe that ended with a high-speed police chase, a series of crashed vehicles, and a manhunt stretching across a Chicago expressway and into Bellwood, according to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office. Keonte Adams, 20; Dajuan Johnson, 24; Kyronte McCondichie, 20; and Daryl Nesbit, 19, were each ordered held behind bars pending trial after a DuPage County judge granted prosecutors’ motion to deny pretrial release.

The sequence of events began unfolding around 4:32 a.m. on Thursday, when Addison police officers spotted two suspicious vehicles traveling westbound on Lake Street near Bruce Avenue. Investigators identified the vehicles as a stolen black Dodge Durango without license plates and a stolen white BMW, both believed to be connected to a recent string of commercial burglaries along the village’s Lake Street corridor. The same Addison business, Maria’s Gaming Café, had previously been targeted by thieves back in May.

How the Break-In and Pursuit Unfolded

Dashcam and surveillance accounts detailed by the Addison Police Department show both stolen vehicles pulling directly into parking spaces in front of Maria’s Gaming Café. Five individuals stepped out of the cars, four of them armed, carrying sledgehammers and a heavy pry bar. Within a two-minute window, the group forced entry, systematically smashed open electronic gaming machines, and tore away cash boxes containing a total of $13,847.

As the suspects attempted to flee, officers from the Elmhurst Police Department intervened, deploying spike strips that disabled the BMW. Three occupants quickly bailed out of the stricken BMW and crammed into the Dodge Durango, swelling its passenger count to eight. Villa Park police officers then picked up the pursuit near North Avenue and Route 83. The Durango accelerated past 100 miles per hour before law enforcement deployed a second round of tire deflation devices. The fleeing SUV ultimately crashed near Interstate 290 and 25th Avenue.

The collision forced the Illinois State Police to temporarily shut down the expressway. All eight occupants scrambled out of the wreckage, fleeing on foot and leaping across Interstate 290 into a residential neighborhood near Van Buren Street and 31st Avenue in Bellwood. As the suspects scattered, three firearms tumbled directly out of the vehicle.

Arrests, Recovered Firearms, and Court Timeline

A massive coordinated sweep involving K-9 units, drones, and officers from multiple municipal and state agencies locked down the Bellwood neighborhood. Authorities successfully took four suspects into custody following the foot chase and area search.

A subsequent search of the recovered vehicles and the surrounding pursuit route yielded a formidable arsenal. Inside the Durango, officers uncovered three loaded weapons, including two Glock handguns and a Zastava AK-style firearm. Prosecutors noted that one of the Glock handguns had an illegal conversion device attached, capable of transforming the semiautomatic weapon into a fully automatic firearm. Investigators also pulled a sledgehammer, a pry bar, a stolen cash box, and additional tools and weapons from the abandoned BMW.

The four defendants face a heavy slate of charges, including armed violence, unlawful possession of a machine gun or weapon, burglary, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, criminal damage to property, and aggravated fleeing and eluding. They made their initial court appearances on Friday, where judges ordered them held pending trial. All four men are scheduled to return to court on November 23.
