Theory Professional Launches New DLC-1500.8d and PLC Series Controllers

Theory Professional has expanded its product ecosystem by launching five new amplified loudspeaker controllers—led by the 8-channel DLC-1500.8d and a four-model Powersoft-powered PLC Series—alongside an extended five-year warranty across all DLC models and a robust distribution amplifier lineup.

DLC-1500.8d

Theory Professional has expanded its amplifier lineup with the introduction of the DLC-1500.8d, an 8-channel loudspeaker controller delivering 6,000 watts of total output from a 2U chassis.

The system is capable of delivering 1,500 watts into 4 or 8 ohms from any channel pair, or 800 watts into 2 or 4 ohms with all channels driven. High-current Euroblock output connectors accept speaker cables up to 10-gauge, while four channels of Dante and AES67 audio-over-IP digital I/O simplify deployment in larger networked architectures. A single DLC-1500.8d can power up to 32 of its 16-ohm loudspeakers in low-impedance mode or over 300 loudspeakers directly in high-impedance mode without requiring an internal transformer.

PLC Series

The brand-new PLC Series has officially launched with complete model specifications. Comprising two 8-channel and two 4-channel variants, the PLC series leverages Powersoft’s patented Class-D amplification topologies, SmartRail energy-management power supplies, Power Factor Correction, and advanced DSP architecture.

Every model in the PLC Series fits compactly into a 1RU chassis while offering proprietary Theory loudspeaker presets, native Dante and AES67 networking, all-channel power sharing, three configurable Gigabit Ethernet ports with one PoE connection, USB-based amplifier configuration restoration, and maritime compliance.

DLC-250.4

For residential or commercial installations requiring flexible distributed audio, Theory Professional also offers the half-rack DLC-250.4 distribution amplifier loudspeaker controller. The unit features 4 channels of intelligent power, a full DSP matrix, and TCP/IP control via a wired connection or its onboard Wi-Fi access point.

The DLC-250.4 offers channel-pair power sharing of up to 250W. Via its configurable outputs, it can drive up to 16 Theory 16-ohm ceiling or pendant loudspeakers in Lo-Z mode, or up to 64 Theory architectural speakers in Hi-Z mode.

Expanded Five-Year Warranty Coverage on DLC Models

In tandem with its expanded hardware ecosystem, the brand announced a significant upgrade to its product warranty program. Effective immediately, Theory Professional extended warranty coverage for all DLC loudspeaker controller models from three years to five years.

System Integration and Deployment Tools

Configuration across the DLC controller family is handled through an onboard web interface accessible via wired Ethernet or the controller’s integrated Wi-Fi access point. Built-in DSP tools include matrix mixing, priority audio routing and ducking, parametric EQ, delay and gain adjustment, and output limiting.

To streamline smart home and commercial automation integration, full API and control modules are available for AMX, Control4, Crestron, Crestron Home, ELAN, Josh.ai, Q-SYS, RTI, and Symetrix.
