Mrs. Carol Jean Marsh Billings Warden, an 84-year-old resident of Crumpler, North Carolina, died in peace on the morning of Wednesday, October 28, 2026, while at Margate Health & Rehab Center.
A Lifetime Rooted in Ashe County
Carol entered the world in Ashe County on February 2, 1942, as the child of the late Edwin James Marsh and Lora Jones Marsh, and she spent her years prioritizing her family, her spiritual devotion, and life’s modest pleasures. She was a dedicated member of Lighthouse Baptist Church, where her faith remained a steady anchor throughout her life.
Away from church activities, she spent her time tending to vibrant flower beds, challenging her mind with crossword puzzles, and keeping up with her favorite game shows. Above all else, she valued the moments spent surrounded by the people she loved.
Survivors Carry on Her Legacy
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husbands, Robert Cleveland “Bob” Billings and Rex Savannah “R.S.” Warden.
She leaves behind a large and loving family, including three daughters: Linda Wyatt and husband Roy, and Joyce Reedy and husband Stanley, all of Crumpler; and Judy Moss and husband Joey of Shallotte, North Carolina. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Jimmy Warden and wife Jaylene of Yadkinville, and Susan Godwin of Wilkesboro; and her brother, William E. “Bill” Marsh of Jefferson.
Her legacy continues through her grandchildren—Robbie Wyatt, Amanda Moss, Jeremy Wyatt, Cody Moss, Megan Reedy, and Jordan Reedy—along with her great-grandchildren, Aaliyah Greene and Jaxson Wyatt, and her great-great-grandchildren, Maverick Moss and Santi Olivera, alongside many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Harry Osborne officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. According to the family, flowers are appreciated.
