Celtic youngster Callum Osmand faces a fitness check ahead of the match against Hibernian after suffering cramps and coming off during a recent European defeat to Celta Vigo, though manager Martin O’Neill confirmed the issue is not serious.
Positive momentum from a 7-1 win over Hearts quickly faded. Celtic dropped another European fixture, falling to Celta Vigo to record their third loss in the Europa League, with two of those defeats coming at home, according to reporting on Yahoo.
Callum Osmand Faces Fitness Test After Celta Vigo Match
Callum Osmand has emerged as a bright spot for Celtic. Durability remains a concern for the teenager, who spent his formative years in the youth ranks at Fulham without making a senior appearance before joining Celtic last year.
During the match against Celta Vigo, Osmand was forced off the pitch due to cramping. Speaking on Sky Sports Football, manager Martin O’Neill addressed the youngster’s condition, noting that the physical toll was not entirely unexpected given his limited playing time.

Young Osmand has had to come off, he was cramping up as well too. That wasn’t unexpected in many aspects, he hasn’t played very much football, he’s done really well in his time on the field. So we’ll see how he is tomorrow, but overall we’ve come out of it okay.

That assessment spared supporters from fearing a worse outcome, given the player’s history of fitness setbacks since his arrival. Whether he recovers in time to feature against Hibernian remains uncertain.
European Struggles Compound Domestic Pressure
Celtic’s continental campaign sits in jeopardy after three straight losses in Europe, while domestic play brings its own scrutiny. O’Neill secured a league and cup double last season under difficult circumstances.
