Girl Scouts of Utah will gather Scouts in grades K-12 and their adult caregivers on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The evening session teaches flag folding, indoor ceremony performance, and flag history. Every participant works toward earning the Color Guard council patch.
Registering for the event binds each attendee to the organization’s Code of Conduct. Troops attending must follow the Events, Travel, & Camping ratios outlined in Volunteer Essentials. Every person, whether Scout or adult, is required to register individually.
Folding Flags, Indoor Ceremonies, and the History Behind Them
Inside the workshop, Scouts learn how to fold and unfold a flag with precision, how to perform an indoor flag ceremony, and the facts and history behind the flag. The two-hour evening session gives participants time to practice the physical skills of flag handling and the ceremonial protocols of an indoor presentation until the movements are exact.
Fees, Scholarships and Cancellation Terms Explained
The program carries a $12 fee per Girl Scout, due at registration, while adults attend at no cost. Girl Scouts of Utah offers Activity Scholarships for members, which can be applied toward the balance due after registering and paying any required deposit. Youth members may also use Activity Credits to pay for the program by mailing the credits to Girl Scouts of Utah with a payment form.

The cancellation policy is strict. Program deposits are non-refundable. Cancellations made fewer than 10 business days—Monday through Friday—before the November 11 start date forfeit the full fee for each registered person. For cancellations or registration changes, participants should contact Girl Scouts of Utah at 801-265-8472 or [email protected].
Who Can Attend and What the Patch Signifies
The event is open to Girl Scouts attending with their troop or with their adult caregiver. For families weighing the cost, the $12 registration fee covers the full two-hour session. Scouts work toward the Color Guard council patch while learning to fold flags and perform indoor flag ceremonies. Adults accompanying the troop attend free, though they too must register and adhere to the same Code of Conduct and supervision ratios.
