Henry Starr closed out the fall collegiate golf calendar by capturing the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week award, an honor announced by the conference office in Colorado Springs.
Closing Out the Fall Slate in Texas
The Colorado Mesa University sophomore made his final push at the NCAA West/South Central Region Preview held in San Antonio, Texas. According to coverage from rmacsports.org, Starr tied for seventh place in a loaded field of 90 players.
He opened the 54-hole tournament at The Dominion Country Club with steady, even-par rounds of 72 on Monday. On Tuesday, he completely flipped his momentum. Starr carded a blistering 6-under-par 66, fueled by a scorching stretch that included four consecutive birdies and seven total in his final round alone. He played his final seven holes of the fall season at 5-under-par.
That surge propelled him to a tournament total of 6-under-par 210, making him the highest-finishing individual among the three RMAC squads competing at the event. He also excelled on the short holes, finishing second in the entire field in par-3 scoring with a combined 3-under par mark of 2.75, as detailed by cmumavericks.com.
Building a Consistent Campaign
This latest accolade marks Starr’s second consecutive weekly conference honor. The Cherry Creek High School graduate previously picked up the RMAC Golfer of the Week award on October 15. The conference did not issue an award on October 22 because fewer than half of the league’s teams competed that week.

Over the course of the fall slate, Starr led Colorado Mesa in all five tournaments. He recorded four top-ten finishes, including a co-victory at the San Juan Intercollegiate. He notched a 70.60 scoring average and posted ten par-or-better rounds out of 15 played. Nationally, he sits 46th in the SCOREBOARD Powered by clippd NCAA Division II Individual Rankings, ranking fifth among South Central Regional players and second among RMAC golfers.
While Starr edged out competition that included a nomination for South Dakota Mines player Matai Naqica, the broader conference context highlights a rich history. Founded in 1909 and headquartered in Colorado Springs, the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference stands as the most historic athletic conference in the western United States and Division II. Comprising 15 institutions across Colorado, Nebraska, New Mexico, South Dakota, and Utah, the conference sponsors 22 sports and has accumulated 71 national championships since 1992.
Spring Course Preparations Await
With the fall portion of the schedule in the rearview mirror, teams now face an extended break before the action resumes. The next major milestone on the calendar arrives in the spring.
The 2027 RMAC Men’s Golf Championship is officially scheduled to take place from April 18 to April 20 in Boulder City, Nevada. Whether Starr and the Mavericks can carry their late-fall momentum into the desert championship remains the central question for the conference as winter approaches.
