Kenneth “Ken” Robert Edgerton, 83, died peacefully at his home in Aurora, Colorado, on October 27, 2026, according to an obituary published by The Denver Gazette on November 4.
Ken dedicated nearly 28 years of his working life to serving as a Denver Deputy Sheriff, a position he began shortly after his family settled in Colorado in 1975. He leaves behind a wide circle of family, including two sons, four grandchildren, one great-grandson, and Patricia, the mother of his three children.
Born in Wyoming, Rooted in Colorado
Ken was born on October 23, 1943, in Laramie, Wyoming, to Robert Henry Edgerton and Birdie Mae Pier. Because his father held a position with Hoover, the family moved frequently, and Ken and his younger siblings—brother Edward Lee and sister Bonnie Kay—lived in short stints in various states. He graduated from Kenmore East High School before following his father into the company, beginning his own career at Hoover.
That work path eventually brought the family to Colorado in 1975. Not long after they settled in the state, Ken began his service as a Denver Deputy Sheriff, remaining in that role for almost 28 years.
Family, Hobbies, and the Sketches He Left Behind
He is survived by his sons Robert and Patrick, his niece Kimberly, his nephew Michael, his four grandchildren Madison, Brooke, Hunter, and Wyatt, his great-grandson Leo, and Patricia. He was preceded in death by his daughter Kristen, his parents, and his brother and sister.
In his leisure time, Ken enjoyed sailing, bowling, golfing, camping, and fishing. He also expressed a talent for drawing and created some memorable and beautiful sketches that those who knew him will hold onto.
