On offense, the game introduces the step-through up-and-under utilized by stars such as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Anthony Edwards, and Luka Dončić. The Expanded Dribbling Customization suite breaks signature dribbling packages into 29 individual, decoupled movements. Meanwhile, the Dynamic Layup Engine adjusts movements mid-air, and a logic-driven Dunk Meter governs finishes at the rim. Defensive systems feature improved hands-up defense mechanics, color-coded shot coverage feedback, an expanded Defensive Cutoff system, skill-based ankle breakers, and a new ball collision system that weighs player ratings during contact.

Historical Eras Expansion and MyCAREER Co-Op

MyCAREER expands beyond the modern league by introducing a historical eras mode built upon the foundation of MyNBA Eras. Each era reportedly features its own specific window of time, with rosters, rules, and presentation meticulously calibrated to that period, allowing gamers to begin their journey in the Magic vs. Bird Era starting in 1984. These environments feature historically locked rosters, trades, and player movement.

For the first time, players can invite a friend into co-op multiplayer directly inside MyCAREER through a custom teammate named Running Mate Trace Miller who originates in the G League and stays through a full professional career. Gamers choose one of nine build templates carrying shades of current NBA stars and upgrade Trace’s attributes, Badges, and playstyle through earned gameplay points.

Footwear and apparel receive extensive representation in the new release, featuring 17 different sportswear brands and hundreds of models for customized MyCareer characters and edited professional players. Jordan Brand includes models ranging from the Air Jordan 1 through the Air Jordan 40, though the Air Jordan 41 is not yet included at publishing. Converse contributes the Shai 001, Chuck Taylor All Star versions, and classic silhouettes like the Fastbreak, Pro Leather, and Weapon. Adidas showcases shoes from Anthony Edwards, James Harden, Damian Lillard, Derrick Rose, Trae Young, Tracy McGrady, and Gilbert Arenas alongside classics like the Superstar and Top Ten.
