Police found a Canada-returned elderly couple dead inside their North Karachi home. Investigators discovered Muhammad Yameen and Nafis Akhtar with dried blood from their noses and ears, while officials await post-mortem examination results to confirm whether poisoning caused the deaths.
The couple had returned to Pakistan from Canada some time ago and were living in a ground-plus-one structure equipped with a shop. Local residents and family members learned of the tragedy when a close relative visited the residence and received no answer.
Initial Police Findings at the North Karachi Residence
Central District Police deployed personnel including the SDPO of Khawaja Ajmer Nagri, the SHO of Sir Syed Police Station, and the crime scene unit to the residence after receiving information about the incident. Responding personnel from the Sir Syed police station entered the property after a relative raised the alarm. Sub-Divisional Police Officer Fareed Khan noted that the bodies appeared to be more than 18 hours old. Early reports mentioning slit throats proved incorrect; an initial medical examination at the scene revealed no injuries caused by sharp-edged weapons on either person.
Investigators documented blood that had flowed from the couple’s noses and ears and dried on the floor. While initial accounts suggested sharp-object wounds on their necks, the District Central police spokesperson clarified that excessive bleeding or a poisonous substance remained the primary investigative theories.

Medical Examination and Ongoing Inquiries by District Central Police
Sir Syed Station House Officer Irfan Asif stated that a final determination requires the complete post-mortem report.
Authorities are currently reviewing closed-circuit television cameras installed in the area to gather further information and establishing timelines from the couple, who had last been seen outside the house on Tuesday evening.
