The Israeli military initiated specific strikes in southern Lebanon on Wednesday, responding to what it described as a blatant violation by Hezbollah. The military action followed an evacuation warning issued for residents of Mansouri, located roughly 25 kilometers from Tabnin. This notice marked the first online evacuation warning issued regarding Lebanon in over a month, following previous leaflet drops in late June after Israel established a unilateral buffer zone in the area.

Despite the military presence and warnings, some local farmers continued traveling to their fields and homes in nearby towns. Lebanese media outlets also documented Israeli strikes across several other southern locations, including the Dabcha area alongside the villages of Qantara, Sibrine, and Kfar Roummane.

Casualties and Regional Diplomatic Context

The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that an Israeli strike targeting the southern town of Tabnin left one person dead and eleven others wounded. The escalation comes just one day after a fresh round of talks between Israel and Lebanon held under American sponsorship in Rome.

The two nations had agreed on June 26 to American-mediated security arrangements designed to quiet hostilities along the border. Even with those arrangements in place, Israel maintained that it would preserve a security zone in southern Lebanon to neutralize threats posed by Hezbollah.

Broader Regional Friction Over Territorial Crossings

Regional tensions extended beyond the immediate border clashes on Wednesday. Qatar issued a formal condemnation after Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz entered southern Syria, labeling the move a violation of national sovereignty and a transgression of international borders.
