Chelsea has completed the signing of central defender Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace in a deal. While the BBC reports the fee at £52m, Sky Sports notes the transfer was completed for £51m.

The 26-year-old France international has penned a contract at Stamford Bridge until 2032, according to the BBC, while Sky Sports reports the agreement is a six-year deal. Lacroix’s arrival pushes Chelsea’s summer spending beyond £250m. Palace had initially sought around £55m in negotiations, referencing the fee Tottenham paid for Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton.

Furthermore, he ranks third for clearances and seventh for aerial duels won.

During the inaugural campaign of defensive contribution (DC) points in Fantasy football, Lacroix collected 40 points, ranking seventh among defenders. Over the last two seasons, he averaged 17.5 headed shots from set-pieces while playing in the middle of a three-centre-back formation.

Chelsea has already raised more than £130m from player sales and compensation received from Manchester City for Enzo Maresca.
