Democrat Elizabeth Moro Flips Last Republican House Seat in Delaware County

Democrat Elizabeth Moro unseated state Rep. Craig Williams on Tuesday, flipping the last Republican-held Pennsylvania House seat in Delaware County and handing Democrats complete control of the county’s delegation, Delcotimes.com reported.

Moro, who had held off repeated challenges during Williams’ six years in the 160th District, won 10,802 votes to Williams’ 9,828 in Delaware County, and carried Chester County 7,032 to 4,762. The district spans Bethel, Chadds Ford, Chester Heights, Concord and Thornbury townships in Delaware County and Birmingham, Pennsbury, Thornbury and Westtown townships in Chester County. Even as the county’s other House seats turned blue over the past six years, Williams held this one.

Voters also approved a $120 million referendum by a wide margin, with 171,131 voting yes and 55,249 voting no, and in Bethel Township approved aid for the Rachel Kohl library, 2,623 to 2,225.

Elsewhere in the county, Democrat Judy Trombetta followed her primary win over state Rep. Greg Vitali with a general election victory over Republican Joe Walker, 21,676 to 10,424. Incumbents who won re-election included U.S. Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon, who took 162,736 votes in Delaware County to Nick Manganaro’s 70,871; state Sen. Tim Kearney, 70,086 to Gail Scott’s 32,334; and state Reps. Carol Kazeem, Leanne Krueger, Dave Delloso, Jennifer O’Mara and Lisa Borowski. Sen. Anthony Williams and state Reps. Heather Boyd, Gina Curry, Regina Young and House Speaker Joanna McClinton faced no opponents.

The sweep means every Pennsylvania House seat representing Delaware County will now be held by a Democrat when the legislature reconvenes.
