Patriots Downgrade A.J. Brown and TreVeyon Henderson Ahead of Miami Clash
Field Level Media reported that the New England Patriots have officially downgraded wide receiver A.J. Brown and running back TreVeyon Henderson from questionable to out for Sunday’s divisional matchup against the host Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium.
The sudden shift in the injury report arrived Saturday after both players missed consecutive practice sessions on Thursday and Friday in Foxborough. For Brown, the absence stems from lingering issues with the high-ankle sprain and knee flare-up that previously landed him on injured reserve following the team’s September season opener against the Seattle Seahawks. Meanwhile, Henderson was sidelined late in the week due to an unexpected illness.
Offensive Depth Tested in AFC East Showdown
Head coach Mike Vrabel addressed the fluid roster situation with reporters on Friday, noting that the team would evaluate players right up until game day. Patspulpit.com noted that Brown’s ongoing recovery has yielded six receptions for 75 yards across 101 offensive snaps since his return to the active 53-man roster. With veteran wideouts Romeo Doubs and Mack Hollins currently lingering on injured reserve, New England’s available receiving corps dwindles to DeMario Douglas, Efton Chism III, and Kyle Williams.

On the ground, Henderson enters the weekend carrying 203 rushing yards and a touchdown on 52 carries through six appearances this fall. The sophomore running back, selected in the second round of the 2025 NFL draft out of Ohio State, missed back-to-back practices while dealing with sickness, leaving Rhamondre Stevenson and Corey Kiner to shoulder the backfield load.
Trench Battles and Defensive Statuses
The offensive line adjustments extend beyond the skill positions. Offensive tackle Marcus Bryant has also been ruled out for Sunday’s contest, remaining inactive despite not receiving an injury designation on Friday as he works through the final stages of his 21-day activation window from injured reserve. Yahoo Sports added that Dolphins rookie offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor remains sidelined for Miami while progressing through the league’s concussion protocol.

Defensively, Patriots linebacker Christian Elliss and cornerback Carlton Davis III carry questionable tags into Sunday afternoon’s 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff. Elliss leads New England with 51 tackles through seven starts, while Davis aims for a return to the secondary after missing three consecutive games due to a neck injury.
