Antonio Johnson Ruled Out as Jaguars Face Colts at EverBank Stadium
Safety Antonio Johnson will miss the Jacksonville Jaguars‘ crucial Week 8 AFC South matchup against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday at EverBank Stadium, according to the team’s official practice report released Friday by Jaguars.com. Johnson, a fourth-year veteran who has established himself as an anchor in the Jacksonville secondary, sustained an ankle injury during the team’s Week 6 loss to the Houston Texans in London. He did not participate in practice all week, prompting Head Coach Liam Coen to officially rule him out ahead of Sunday’s kickoff.

The AFC South-leading Jaguars enter Sunday’s contest holding a 4-2 record, while the visiting Colts sit at 2-5. As Jacksonville looks to rebound from its overseas defeat and tighten its grip on the division lead, the team’s defensive rotation will have to absorb the loss of one of its most productive coverage pieces.
Health Returns for Matiscik and Brown
While the Jaguars will be without Johnson, the team received significant positive health updates on two other key contributors following Friday’s practice session at the Miller Electric Center. Long snapper Ross Matiscik and cornerback Montaric Brown are both expected to play on Sunday after missing the London game against Houston due to shoulder and hamstring injuries, respectively.
Matiscik and Brown were among seven Jacksonville players listed without a game status designation on the final injury report, clearing the way for their return to the active lineup. Other players cleared for Sunday action without game status include tight end Brenton Strange (eye), defensive tackle Ruke Orhorhoro (ankle), linebacker Jahlani Tavai (hamstring), running back LeQuint Allen Jr. (hamstring), and defensive end Josh Hines-Allen (ankle).
Meanwhile, wide receiver Jakobi Meyers remains the primary question mark for the offense, listed as questionable for Sunday with a hamstring injury.
