Garmin’s smartwatch lineup is seeing significant price cuts on Amazon, led by a $250 discount on the Fenix 8 alongside major reductions on the fitness-focused vívoactive 5 and the rugged Instinct 3 AMOLED, according to recent retail tracking.
Flagship Fenix 8 Hits Record Low After Steep Amazon Markdown
Serious athletes and adventurers looking at elite wrist-worn tech now face a significantly lower barrier to entry. As of August 24, the Garmin Fenix 8 smartwatch in the 47mm AMOLED configuration dropped to $849.98 on Amazon. That figure represents a 23% savings off the standard list price of $1,099.99, marking the lowest price recorded for the device since its launch.
While price fluctuations happen regularly across online marketplaces, this drop matches the lowest point ever seen for the model and represents the first time this year the device has fallen this far. The Fenix 8 sits firmly in the premium category, packed with advanced strength training metrics, dive capabilities, and a built-in LED flashlight featuring multiple intensity settings, a red light mode for preserving night vision, and a strobe for road safety. It also adds an internal speaker and microphone to handle voice messaging and calls when paired with a nearby phone. Garmin covers a wide range of smartwatches, from entry-level to advanced to premium, and the Fenix 8 falls in the premium category, hence the price tag. It’s designed for athletes who want to push beyond their limits and packs advanced strength training features, dive capability, and performance-tracking stats you won’t find on most watches. Now in its eighth edition, the Fenix 8 has upped its smart features as well by adding an internal speaker and microphone for voice-messaging and calls. It still doesn’t have cellular connectivity, so you’ll need to carry your phone with you to use these features, but it’s definitely a step in the right direction.
When Mashable’s reviewer tested a previous iteration of the Fenix smartwatch, the performance proved exceptionally capable for outdoor use. Despite lacking standalone cellular connectivity, the hardware delivers up to 16 days of battery life in standard smartwatch mode. That endurance far outpaces typical mainstream smartwatches that require daily charging cycles, with Apple Watches failing to make it two full days in comparison.
Mid-Range Vívoactive 5 Sees 39% Price Cut for Everyday Tracking
For buyers prioritizing health tracking and daily fitness over extreme exploration, the Garmin vívoactive 5 is receiving an equally aggressive promotion. The 42mm size is available for $181.97 on Amazon, down from its typical $299.99 retail price, giving you a saving of $118.02 as the watch drops to one of its lowest prices according to price tracking sites. That represents a 39% discount. Another retail tracker lists the price as low as $173, cutting the cost by $127.

The vívoactive 5 centers its feature set around an AMOLED display, built-in GPS tracking, and more than 30 preloaded sports apps covering running, walking, cycling, swimming, golf, and HIIT. Preloaded workouts are available for strength training, cardio, yoga, Pilates, and HIIT, and you can build additional workouts through the Garmin Connect app. It also incorporates specialized options like wheelchair mode—which can track pushes instead of steps and includes activities for pushing—alongside sleep coaching, Body Battery energy monitoring, workout benefit, recovery time, and HRV status. Prices and savings are subject to change, and prices are correct as of August 20th, 2026 according to PC Guide.
Battery performance remains a core selling point for the model. Users can enjoy up to 11 days of continuous use in smartwatch mode, or up to 5 days with the vibrant AMOLED display configured to stay on constantly.
Rugged Instinct 3 AMOLED Joins the Discount Lineup
Rounding out the current slate of Garmin markdowns, the rugged outdoor Garmin Instinct 3 GPS Smartwatch is priced at a discount, marking a price drop from its standard retail cost. That is a 34% discount. Built to MIL-STD-810 standards and water-rated to a depth of 100 meters, the 45mm model features a metal-reinforced bezel, a fiber-reinforced polymer case, and a scratch-resistant lens covering a 1.2-inch screen.
The device brings multi-band GPS with SatIQ technology to the Instinct line, dynamically adjusting satellite tracking frequencies to maintain location accuracy in heavy tree cover or urban canyons without draining the battery unnecessarily during casual workouts. Colors, maps, and workout animations all show up properly on the AMOLED display, which is a headline change since every previous generation used a monochrome transflective panel. It also features a built-in LED flashlight housed in the device with different modes including varying intensity, red light, and strobe, alongside a 3-axis compass and a barometric altimeter, while offering up to 18 days of battery life in smartwatch mode.
