Hall Booth Smith Welcomes Corby Covalt and Alexis O’Brien to Oklahoma City

Hall Booth Smith, P.C. has added two new associates to its Oklahoma City office, bringing specialized experience in medical malpractice and aging services to the firm, according to a report from hallboothsmith.com.

The firm is welcoming Corby J. Covalt and Alexis O’Brien to its growing team in Oklahoma. Their arrival shows a continued focus on the complex intersection of healthcare, liability, and professional ethics within the state's legal system.

“We are excited to welcome Corby and Alexis to our growing Oklahoma City team,” said Mike Heron.

Corby J. Covalt joins the firm with a practice centered on healthcare, medical malpractice, and professional malpractice and ethics. He focuses on representing physicians, hospitals, and health systems through every stage of litigation, from initial case evaluation and discovery to depositions and final resolution.

Before joining Hall Booth Smith, Covalt spent five years at an Oklahoma City defense firm. During that time, he represented several of the largest healthcare providers in Oklahoma in medical malpractice actions. His professional background also includes legal internships with a major hospital system and a leading Oklahoma health insurer, providing him with a perspective on both the legal and operational hurdles faced by medical organizations.

Covalt is an alumnus of the University of Oklahoma College of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor. In 2023, he was selected to participate in the International Association of Defense Counsel’s Trial Academy.

Alexis O’Brien will focus her practice on a diverse range of matters, including aging services, dental, general liability, healthcare, insurance coverage, and medical malpractice. O’Brien is already familiar with the firm’s operations, having previously served as a summer associate in the Oklahoma City office.

During her time as a summer associate, O’Brien assisted with litigation tasks such as medical record reviews, discovery disputes, and deposition preparation. Her practical experience at the firm included drafting a reply brief regarding a comprehensive medical authorization request and preparing a mediation statement for a case that reached a settlement.

O’Brien’s academic background includes serving as a licensed academic intern with the University of Oklahoma College of Law’s Criminal Legal Clinic. In that role, she represented clients in criminal proceedings, successfully obtained an expungement, and advocated for the waiver of costs and fees. She holds a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in history and criminology from the University of Florida.

He added that their skills and dedication are expected to enhance the firm’s ability to provide services to clients throughout the state.
