Jacksonville Man Arrested for Fatal Five-Vehicle Crash Near Harrison

Christopher R. Langley Arrested Following Fatal December Crash

Nearly one year after a devastating five-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 65 north of Harrison, Arkansas, authorities have taken 53-year-old Christopher R. Langley into custody. The Jacksonville man faces four charges related to the December 5, 2025, incident that claimed the lives of two people and left four others hospitalized, KTLO reported.

The collision, which occurred during the winter holiday season, resulted in the deaths of 30-year-old Breonna M. Martin and 69-year-old James E. Ramsey, both residents of Harrison. The Arkansas State Police, in a probable cause affidavit, outlined a series of events that began well before the vehicles made contact.

The Sequence of Events on U.S. Highway 65

According to the state police investigation, Langley was operating his vehicle northbound on U.S. 65 when he drifted out of his lane. The affidavit states that his vehicle crossed the turn lane and entered the southbound lanes, triggering a chain-reaction crash involving five vehicles in total.

The lead-up to the impact was observed by other motorists. Multiple callers had contacted authorities to report erratic driving behavior involving Langley’s vehicle. One witness told investigators they had followed the vehicle for 30 minutes, watching as the driver struggled to maintain a consistent path.

When questioned by a trooper at the scene, Langley stated that he believed his blood sugar had dropped to a dangerous level. He reported attempting to eat peanut butter while driving, noting that he began experiencing double vision and had ridden up on the curb multiple times before his memory of the event lapsed. Investigators later recovered an open jar of peanut butter from the floor of his vehicle.

Charges and Legal Standing

Langley is currently facing four misdemeanor charges: two counts of negligent homicide, one count of driving left of center, and one count of inadequate insurance during an accident. He has since been released from custody after posting a $5,000 bond.

The impact of the crash extended to several other individuals. In addition to the two fatalities, the incident resulted in injuries to 51-year-old Joshua E. Massengale and 18-year-old Hayden T. Martin, both of Harrison. Also injured were 28-year-old Brock D. Andreasen, of Jefferson City, and Langley himself.

The legal proceedings will now move forward as the court evaluates the circumstances surrounding the driver’s condition and the reports of his driving behavior leading up to the collision. As of now, the case remains open as it moves through the judicial system in Arkansas.
