Jung Jaehyung Reveals Lee Sedol’s Surprisingly Talkative Nature on New Variety Show

Singer-songwriter Jung Jaehyung revealed at a Yeouido-dong production presentation that Go player Lee Sedol is surprisingly talkative on their new KBS2 variety show, Unemployed Lee Sedol, which explores analog survival and premieres on October 23, 2026.

Speaking at a production presentation held on October 22, 2026, at the KBS Annex Public Hall in Yeouido-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, singer-songwriter Jung Jaehyung shared his initial misconceptions about the legendary Go player, admitting he expected a much more reserved demeanor according to Chosun.

An Analog Survival Story Built Around Modern AI Concerns

Jung connected the program’s themes to his own reflections while working on music for The Dream Life of Mr. Kim last year, where he contemplated the future humanity might face around the ages of 40 or 45. That’s why ‘Unemployed Lee Sedol’ is a special program for me, Jung said according to Chosun.

I think it’s a story for all the unemployed people in this world. In a way, AI might be ahead of us, and we might be lagging behind. Lee Sedol represents the concerns many people share, showing how he directly confronts and experiences these issues through his body.

Learning Childlike Focus on Set

Reflecting on filming alongside Lee, Jung expressed genuine surprise at how much the Go champion communicated during production, noting that he spoke much more than I expected.

I thought he would be very quiet and serious. No matter what he does, he approaches it like a child. I wanted to learn that. Even though he’s older, he doesn’t cling to his career like a badge of honor; instead, I realized I should focus like a boy.

KBS2 is scheduled to premiere Unemployed Lee Sedol on October 23, 2026, at 8:30 p.m.
