Two suspects are being sought by the Los Angeles Police Department after a Danish tourist was knocked unconscious during an assault near the Venice Fishing Pier late last month, KTLA reported.

The incident occurred around 12:35 a.m. on October 30, 2026, in the vicinity of Speedway and Washington Boulevard. According to the LAPD, the Danish national was discovered unconscious with a laceration to the right side of his head. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics treated the man at the scene before he was rushed to a local hospital, where medical staff treated him for what officials described as “serious” injuries.

Surveillance footage released by the LAPD on Friday provides a graphic look at the encounter. The video shows two men approaching the victim. One suspect, described by investigators as a Black man wearing a black hoodie and a blue beanie, is seen slapping the victim while he stood against a pole. The footage also shows the suspect smacking an object out of the victim’s hands and appearing to reach directly into the man’s pocket. A second angle of the assault shows a second suspect, described as a Hispanic man wearing a black shirt and a black hat, punching the victim and knocking him to the ground.

The violence in the Venice area highlights ongoing concerns regarding street safety in high-traffic tourist corridors. For visitors traveling from abroad, such incidents underscore the unpredictable nature of urban environments after dark. The loss of personal property and the severity of physical trauma in this case suggest a targeted encounter rather than a random act of chaos.
