Leonard Williams Sustains Stinger in Seahawks Loss to Bears

Leonard Williams Exits Seahawks Defeat Against Bears With Stinger

Monday night football in Chicago brought a pair of costly setbacks for Seattle. Three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Leonard Williams exited the game during a 34-17 loss to the Chicago Bears after sustaining a stinger midway through the third quarter, according to a report.

The injury happened as Williams attempted to tackle running back Roschon Johnson on a touchdown drive that extended Chicago’s lead to 20-9. Evaluated in the medical tent shortly afterward, the 12th-year NFL veteran was initially listed as questionable to return but remained on the sideline for the remainder of the contest.

Williams entered the matchup having recorded 3.0 sacks and seven tackles for loss across eight games this season, anchoring a unit that relies heavily on his interior pass rush and run stoppage.

Injuries Mount as Seattle Awaits Medical Evaluations

Seattle secured Williams in August with a three-year, $90 million contract extension, making him one of the highest-paid defensive tackles in the league.

Leo had a stinger and we’ll see how that shakes out, Seattle head coach Mike Macdonald said after the game.

Compounding the defensive concerns, Macdonald also disclosed that edge rusher Connor O’Toole suffered a foot injury during the contest. Cameron Van Til of Seattle Sports noted that the team struggled to find a rhythm as the game slipped away.

With an 8-game sample already in the books, the immediate focus shifts to medical evaluations in the coming days to determine whether Williams will miss extended time.
