Makinde’s Campaign Predicts 12-State Victory

The Allied Peoples Movement presidential campaign has ordered grassroots mobilisation across Nigeria for the January 2027 election, setting a two-week deadline for state coordinators to compile house canvassers and polling agents as the party positions Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde to challenge incumbent President Bola Tinubu.

The presidential campaign machine behind Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde is wasting no time as the country heads toward the January 2027, ballot. Operating on the Allied Peoples Movement platform, the Makinde-Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation has rolled out strict operational directives for its newly inaugurated North-Central zonal state coordinators, ordering an immediate grassroots push into every household and polling unit.

Felix Hyat Directs Two-Week Polling Unit Agent Recruitment Across North-Central Zone

During the inauguration of the zonal coordinators at the party’s campaign headquarters in Abuja, Felix Hassan Hyat, Director-General of the campaign organisation and a former Minister of Aviation, laid out the tactical framework for the upcoming election. Hyat stressed that the entire national electoral outcome hinges on meticulous local preparation.

This journey begins at the polling units and moves to the ward headquarters, local government headquarters, state headquarters and, ultimately, the national level. Politics is local, and our work must be localised.

The campaign leadership instructed state directors to compile comprehensive lists of house-to-house canvassers alongside verified polling unit agents, giving local commanders two weeks to complete the exercise. Hyat warned against appointing incapable personnel, noting that front-line managers dictate electoral survival.

Elections are fought, won and lost at the polling units. Our polling unit managers and agents can determine our fate. If I know that an agent can determine my fate, I must also be careful about the kind of agent I appoint. If I appoint an agent who is not capable of doing the job, I should not be surprised by the outcome.

Richard Ihediwa and Tony Aziegbemi Target Tinubu Administration Over Economic Hardship

Beyond grassroots recruitment, the campaign launched a sharp offensive against the economic policies of the incumbent administration under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, Deputy Director of Operations for the campaign organisation, invoked statistics from the National Bureau of Statistics to underscore the human cost of current policies, pointing out that 35 million Nigerians go to bed hungry every night due to decisions such as the removal of fuel subsidies and currency floating.

The offensive expanded when Richard Nnanna Ihediwa, Director of Strategic Communications for the campaign council, issued a formal statement predicting that Seyi Makinde will defeat President Tinubu across 12 specific battleground states and the Federal Capital Territory. The identified states include Oyo, Kaduna, Rivers, Plateau, Borno, Enugu, Bauchi, Sokoto, Delta, Kano, Adamawa, and Lagos.

The campaign claimed that the President’s personal decision to campaign in those exact twelve locations reflects growing apprehension within the ruling party over Makinde’s expanding political foothold. Rather than relying on airport arrivals and rallies, the campaign challenged Tinubu to travel by road to inspect decaying federal infrastructure and witness the hardship that citizens have nicknamed T Pain after three and a half years of ruling party policies.

The candidate himself outlined his governance vision during the party’s North-East zonal town hall meeting in Yola, Adamawa State. Governor Makinde pledged that an administration led by him would not last beyond four years, taking office on May 29, 2027, as an all-inclusive transitional government of national unity.

2027 will mark the end of the politics of lies and deceit. It is a time when we will all come together to establish a reset agenda and tell Nigerians the whole truth.

Makinde also challenged the Federal Government to publish its petroleum pricing template, questioning the transparency behind energy measures such as compressed natural gas initiatives and the naira-for-crude arrangements. His Reset Nigeria platform centers on four primary pillars: reforming education, revitalizing the economy through massive production, restructuring security via intelligence gathering and kinetic operations, and enacting socio-political reforms.

The campaign ticket combines Makinde, a South-West technocrat and engineer born in Ibadan in 1967 who secured his second gubernatorial term in Oyo State in 2023, with Musa Lawal Daura, the former Director-General of the State Security Service, who brings northern security credentials to the pairing. Party leaders including Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, who serves as APM National Leader, have thrown their weight behind the ticket.

Speaking for the North-Central coordinators receiving their marching orders in Abuja, Usman Danladi Ibrahim from Kogi State affirmed readiness for the field. We want to assure you that the Makinde-Daura combination is what Nigeria needs, Ibrahim told party stakeholders, indicating an aggressive push as opposition parties compete in a crowded electoral field featuring Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress.
