As noted by IGN, the app is in direct competition with platforms like Steam. Microsoft is betting these improvements will help it gain a stronger foothold in the PC gaming market.
Xbox Experience Expands to Web and Cloud
This new design language is not limited to the PC app. The web version features a new Library tab. It brings together all cloud-based games, whether owned or through Xbox Game Pass. The web version also uses screen space better in a desktop mode and offers new high-contrast accessibility options.

The goal is to make the Xbox experience feel more familiar, no matter where a player chooses to game. Microsoft states that while each platform is customized for its screen, core actions like finding games, knowing what’s playable, and getting into a game quickly should remain consistent.

These changes are part of our work to make Xbox faster, simpler, and more familiar wherever you play.
