Milwaukee Brewers Announce 2026 BBWAA Award Winners: Brice Turang Named MVP

Brewers Announce 2026 BBWAA Award Winners Following Historic Championship Season

The World Series champion Milwaukee Brewers have officially announced their 2026 award winners as selected by a panel from the Milwaukee chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America (BBWAA), recognizing five distinct players for their regular-season contributions. WMTV15 News reported that the five honored athletes span roles from the clubhouse presence to the everyday lineup, capturing the breadth of a championship roster.

Regular-season achievements alone dictated the ballot, leaving postseason heroics out of the equation for categories including Most Valuable Player, Most Valuable Pitcher, Most Valuable Newcomer, Unsung Hero, and the Good Guy Award.

Jacob Misiorowski Claims Unanimous MVPitcher Honors and Cy Young Finalist Nod

Among the five categories, right-hander Jacob Misiorowski stood alone as the only unanimous winner. The 24-year-old pitcher dominated the regular season to finish with a 16-5 record and a 1.80 ERA across 30 starts. His 252 strikeouts fell just shy of Ben Sheets’ 2004 franchise record of 264, while leading all of Major League Baseball in ERA, strikeouts, opponent batting average at .157, WHIP at 0.80, strikeout percentage at 37.9, and hits allowed per nine innings at 4.95.

That historic dominance earned Misiorowski a spot as a finalist for the National League Cy Young Award.

Brice Turang Takes Team MVP Over Chourio and Contreras

Second baseman Brice Turang captured the Brewers Most Valuable Player award for the second season. Turang batted .268 with 21 home runs, 100 RBIs, and 19 stolen bases in 151 games while securing the second Gold Glove Award of his career.

Yahoo Sports observed that seeing Turang take the team MVP crown over outfield standout Jackson Chourio—who missed the first month of the season—and catcher William Contreras came as a mild shock to some observers. Yet, Turang’s defensive excellence and his historic offensive output could not be topped. His 100 RBIs led all major league second basemen and set a new franchise record, eclipsing Rickie Weeks’ mark of 83 set in 2010. Turang ranked among National League leaders by tying for second in doubles with 37, tying for third in runs scored with 102, placing sixth in RBIs, and finishing seventh with 90 walks.

Cooper Pratt and Abner Uribe Secure Newcomer and Unsung Hero Honors

Shortstop Cooper Pratt earned Brewers Top Newcomer honors after establishing himself as the everyday starter following his June 16 recall from Triple-A Nashville.

In the bullpen, pitcher Abner Uribe captured the Unsung Hero award. Uribe appeared in 61 games, finishing 6-3 with a 1.97 ERA and six saves. Opponents batted just .199 against him, and he posted a 1.03 WHIP while maintaining a sparkling 0.84 ERA across his final 43 regular-season appearances.

Christian Yelich Wins Third Good Guy Award

Designated hitter Christian Yelich rounded out the honorees by claiming his third Good Guy Award, having previously won in 2023 and 2025. Willy Adames previously won the award in 2024. Presented to the player who maintains an outgoing, friendly presence in the clubhouse and interacts cooperatively and pleasantly with the media on a daily basis, Yelich’s recognition highlights his continued leadership role within the franchise as he contributes from the designated hitter spot.
