Moanalua sets new scoring record in All-Girl Division championship
Moanalua delivered a historic performance at the Blaisdell Arena on Wednesday night, securing the All-Girl Division title at the Zippy’s/HHSAA Cheerleading State Championships with a record-breaking score of 46.02. Na Menehune captured their fourth state title in the All-Girl Division to go with four Large Division titles and three Medium Division titles.
The precision of the routine allowed Moanalua to pull ahead of a competitive field. Sacred Heart followed in second place with 44.63 points, while Punahou took third with 43.23. The margin of victory showed a performance that observers described as explosive and dynamic.
Captain Mila Oka expressed her gratitude for the program and her teammates, noting that the team had to push through various obstacles to reach this moment.
“I’m so grateful for this program. I’m so excited for my team. I’m so beyond proud of them for everything we’ve overcome. We pushed through and we did it,” said Mila Oka.
Coach Kellie O’Donnell emphasized that the success was not accidental but the result of months of repetitive, focused training. She noted that the team focused on cleaning up the routine and increasing sharpness to ensure they were performing from the heart when it mattered most.
Iolani claims Coed Division crown after intense preparation
In the Coed Division, Iolani captured the state title with a score of 42.30. The competition in this category was notably tight, with Radford finishing as the runner-up at 40.28 and Aiea taking third place with 39.45.
Coach Sheri Nakaya noted that while the previous performance was close, it lacked the perfection required for the state stage. The team utilized the two days leading up to the championship to refine their execution.

Captain Keira Covington noted that the team made a conscious decision to hold back their celebrations until the awards presentation. This discipline was a strategic pivot for the group, as they recalled previous instances where excessive excitement during the routine resulted in point deductions.
