Montpelier Municipal Utilities Honored for Grid Resilience and Safety at AMP Conference

Montpelier Municipal Utilities earned a System Improvement Award and a Safety Award during the 2026 American Municipal Power (AMP) Annual Conference. The utility was recognized for upgrading local infrastructure and maintaining a clean safety record over the past year.

The System Improvement Award came in the Grid Resilience category. This recognition highlights projects that strengthen grid reliability, enhance cybersecurity, or improve disaster preparedness for public power systems, ultimately delivering more reliable electric service to customer-owners.

Montpelier secured the honor specifically for its Downtown Madison Street Project. The initiative modernized aging electric infrastructure in the heart of the village’s downtown commercial district and established a looped distribution system capable of supplying power from multiple directions and circuits.

Transmission and Distribution Safety Recognized

Alongside the infrastructure award, the utility received a Safety Award in the Transmission and Distribution category. This designation acknowledges public power distribution divisions that complete a year with no time lost due to reportable accidents.
