Dennis Montgomery Sweatman, a 42-year-old resident of Macedonia, South Carolina, passed away on the morning of Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at a hospital in North Charleston. Known to his inner circle as “Squeeker,” Sweatman was a man defined by a restless, adventurous spirit and a deep-seated devotion to his family and animals.
In towns like Macedonia and Moncks Corner, the impact of the loss is felt by family, loved ones, and those in the local workforce.
A life lived at full throttle
Before that, he honed his leadership skills in the fast-paced environment of retail management, serving as a manager for Food Lion in Moncks Corner and Harris Teeter in Mt. Pleasant.
Outside the clock, Sweatman sought the kind of freedom only found on the open road or in the mud. He was an active member of the Misguided Motorcycle Club, where his passion for biking earned him his lifelong nickname. When he wasn’t on two wheels, he spent his time mudding in his Jeep or expanding his gun collection.
The family and the farewell
Born on July 6, 1984, in Charleston, South Carolina, Sweatman was the son of Sammie Montgomery Sweatman, Jr., and Denise Lynn Zimmerman Sweatman. His passing leaves a void for a wide network of kin and partners. He is survived by his parents in Macedonia; his partner, Alexis Totten of Macedonia; his sister, Samantha Hurn and her husband Kirk of Ravenel; and his brother, Adam Sweatman of Macedonia.
The next generation of the Sweatman family also feels this loss, including three nieces—Emily Hurn, Mackenzie Bowers, and Lara Sweatman—and three nephews—Conner Hurn, Maximus Hurn, and Logan Sweatman. The breadth of his surviving family, including numerous aunts and uncles, speaks to a deeply embedded root system within the Lowcountry.
The community will gather to honor his memory on Sunday, November 8, 2026. A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Dial-Murray Funeral Home in Moncks Corner. For those wishing to pay their respects, the family will receive friends at the funeral home starting at 12:30 PM until the service begins.
Honoring a legacy through rescue
The family has requested that those wishing to honor Dennis avoid sending flowers. Instead, they suggest making donations to an animal shelter or rescue of the donor’s choice.
The departure of the 42-year-old prompts a reflection on his adventurous spirit; for the people of Macedonia and the members of the Misguided Motorcycle Club, the memory of “Squeeker” will be tied to his love of life and motorcycles.
