Paul Campbell Passes Away After 30 Years of Car Detailing Service

In the early morning of November 3, Paul Campbell passed away, leaving behind a community that knew him through decades of meticulous car detailing, union work, and deep ties to his local church, as reported by The News Journal.

Born on July 11, 1960, to Paul F. Campbell and Nora Jane Schafferman Campbell, Paul built a life centered around his family, his home, and his work. For more than 30 years, he ran his own car detailing business, a career where he frequently joked that he never worked a day in his life because he loved what he did so much. Those loyal customers often became close friends, stopping by to chat about their mutual love for the Phillies or to share updates on his daughter Catie’s many horse shows. Lucy, his dog, remained his constant sidekick, accompanying him through daily chores in the yard and while working.

Before launching Paul’s Detailing, his working life was tied to Delaware’s industrial and cultural footprint. He was a member of Teamster Union 326, working at the Volkswagen at the Port of Wilmington and the Chrysler facility. His trade experience even stretched onto film sets, including contributions to the production of “Dead Poets Society” and the 1992 documentary “Lincoln.”

Away from work, his life was marked by active travel and community involvement. A faithful man, he dedicated much of his time to Christiana Presbyterian Church, where his engagement with his church family and the Word was a daily constant. Friends and family knew that his garage door was always open, welcoming visitors with a ready joke.

He shared 35 years of marriage with his loving wife, Paula Sims, and raised his beloved daughter, Catie. Together, the family traveled widely, taking memorable trips to National Parks, Disney World, cruises, and Phillies Spring Training games. He also spent considerable time at his beach house, sharing those spaces with his niece and nephews as they grew up.

Services are scheduled for Saturday, November 14, at Christiana Presbyterian Church, located at 15 N. Old Baltimore Pike in Christiana, Delaware, beginning at 11:00 am. A viewing will be held the evening before, on Friday, November 13, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home at 3710 Kirkwood Highway in Wilmington. Memorial donations may be made to Christiana Presbyterian Church, and online condolences can be left at mccreryandharra.com.
