Simon Bird took 48 percent of the vote, and the USL Championship announced on Wednesday that Louisville City FC’s head coach has been named Coach of the Month for October, as uslchampionship.com reported.
LouCity Clinches First League Title
Bird earned the honor after steering LouCity through an undefeated final month of the regular season, one that delivered the club’s first Prinx Tires USL Cup and locked in a fourth-place finish in the Eastern Conference. The award is voted on by the USL Championship National Media Panel and the USL Championship Technical Committee, each responsible for half the overall ballot.
The month opened with the decisive moment: a 1-0 victory against Hartford Athletic in which Aiden McFadden’s goal sealed the Prinx Tires USL Cup. With that win, LouCity became the first club in league history to have earned the USL Championship title, the Players’ Shield and the Prinx Tires USL Cup.

Eight Games Unbeaten, One Goal Conceded
Louisville won three of its final four regular-season outings to surge into fourth in the Eastern Conference standings, and across five outings in all competitions the club conceded only once while posting a +8 goal differential.
“Winning at a Pivotal Moment”
“I’m really proud to have achieved the award because it means we are winning games at a really pivotal moment of the season,” Bird said. “It’s a reflection of the hard work and commitment to excellence that all the employees, the fans, the technical staff, and of course the players put into the organization.”
From Interim Appointment to Semifinal
After weathering some ups and downs in the middle of the campaign, his squad has now put together an eight-game undefeated streak across all competitions.
That streak heads into Saturday’s Eastern Conference Semifinal of the 2026 USL Championship Playoffs against Miami FC, with the winner of that matchup advancing deeper into the postseason.
For Louisville, the award lands at the exact intersection of regular-season success and postseason pressure: the club conceded a single goal in five October outings, kept its unbeaten run alive at eight games, and now carries that momentum into a semifinal where a win extends the season and a loss ends it.
Neill Collins Finishes Second With 29 Percent
Sacramento Republic FC’s Neill Collins finished second in the voting with 29 percent of the ballot after leading his side to an undefeated month and a 13-game undefeated streak that closed the regular season and sent Sacramento into second place in the Western Conference.
