SNHU Men’s Soccer Claims NE10 Regular Season – Northeast 10 Conference

Southern New Hampshire University has secured the No. 1 seed in the Northeast 10 Men’s Soccer Championship for the second time in three seasons, claiming the conference’s regular season crown as play concluded on Wednesday night, northeast10.org reported.

The Penmen entered the autumn as the preseason NE10 favorite and spent the entire campaign entrenched in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25, primarily residing in the top five. Backed by the conference’s top offense, SNHU held the No. 1 national ranking for much of the fall while amassing a 52-10 goal differential.

Offensive Dominance and Defensive Stifling

SNHU stands as the only team in the NE10 to average more than two goals per game this season—pushing past three per match—while simultaneously serving as the lone squad to allow fewer than one score per contest. That statistical gulf sets the tone for a postseason bracket where the top seed traditionally holds a massive historical cushion.

As the top seed, SNHU earns an opening-round bye, bypassing the early games to land directly in the conference semifinals. History favors the front-runner. The No. 1 seed has advanced to the championship final in five straight years, securing the overall title in four of those five instances.

Chasing the Crown Through the Bracket

While the Penmen rest, the rest of the conference sorts itself out starting on Halloween. American International claimed the role of top upstart in a season defined by rising rankings. Picked seventh in the preseason poll, the Jackets finished 5-2-2, highlighted by a seven-goal victory against a ranked Franklin Pierce side to secure their first winning conference record since 2021.

Assumption and Saint Anselm also carved out impressive turnarounds after being projected 10th and 8th respectively in the league’s preseason rankings. Saint Anselm surged down the stretch, winning four of its final five matches—including a victory over Franklin Pierce and a road win at Bentley—to seize the No. 4 seed and a crucial home game via a tie-break.

The tournament bracket features three opening-round matchups on Saturday, October 31st, all hosted by higher seeds:

  • No. 7 Adelphi at No. 2 American International (7 PM)
  • No. 6 Assumption at No. 3 Bentley (12 PM)
  • No. 5 Franklin Pierce at No. 4 Saint Anselm (1 PM)

The victors advance to the semifinals on Wednesday, November 4th, where the winner of the Franklin Pierce-Saint Anselm clash will travel to face Southern New Hampshire at 7 PM. The opposite semifinal pairs the winner of the Adelphi-American International match against the winner of the Assumption-Bentley battle.

Everything culminates on Saturday, November 7th, when the highest remaining seed hosts the championship final. All tournament games will be broadcast on FloCollege.
