A Centralized Digital Hub for Case Management
Litigants, attorneys, and the public now have access to a centralized digital hub designed to search case files, track dockets, and manage court documents across the judicial system in Nevada County.
The Nevada Portal permits anyone to search case data directly from the court’s case management system. Basic case information is available to the public simply by creating an account on the portal. However, viewing actual case documents requires distinct procedural steps determined by an individual’s specific relationship to the litigation.
Public Records Requests and Attorney Access
Members of the public seeking to view documents must submit a formal public records request on the court’s website at www.nevada.courts.ca.gov. Parties and attorneys attached to a specific case follow a different path, requesting direct document access by filling out a dedicated digital intake form.
The court estimates a processing window of approximately one week for these party and attorney case access requests to clear.
Streamlined Filings for Restraining Orders
The portal also streamlines specific filing categories. Most notably, free electronic filing is available for Domestic Violence Restraining Order (DVRO) and Gun Violence Restraining Order (GVRO) submissions through the left sidebar on the portal interface.
For individuals managing an existing Family Law case, filings require a precise sequence. Users must search for their active Family Law case on the portal, navigate to the bottom of the Summary tab, and upload the petition as a PDF. If token access to the case is missing, users must request Party Access before submitting documents.
Criminal Proceedings and Manual Uploads
Criminal and juvenile filings similarly move through electronic submission channels within the portal. Retained defense attorneys looking to file Substitutions of Attorney to formally join a case can email the necessary paperwork directly to [email protected] or [email protected]. To file documents manually within the portal system, users must search for the case, navigate to the Documents tab, and upload their PDF files.
Strict Oversight for Justice Partner Accounts
For Justice Partner agencies, account management demands strict administrative oversight. The court mandates that agencies submit requests to add, update, or remove users via a designated online form. Furthermore, each Justice Partner agency must notify the court promptly whenever a portal account holder separates from the organization by submitting the same separation form.
