More than 60 turkeys will be carved up on Thanksgiving Day when the Parish Church of St. Helena hosts its 47th Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner, explorebeaufortsc.com reported.
Sixty Turkeys, One Thousand Plates at 11:30 a.m
The free meal starts at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, November 26, in the church’s Parish Hall at 507 Newcastle Street in Downtown Beaufort. Organizers expect to serve over one thousand traditional Thanksgiving meals, a scale that has defined the event for nearly five decades.
Rosalind Dixon, who coordinates the dinner, said
the church expects to carve up more than 60 turkeys for the event, which is in its 47th year.

Three Ways to Eat: Sit-Down, Drive-Up or Home Delivery
The dinner is served as a sit-down meal where guests can dine with friends, family and neighbors. Drive-up take-away meals are also available for those who need one or want to carry food to elderly or homebound residents, and the church offers delivery to those who cannot leave home.
Donated Food, Free to All, for 47 Years Running
All the food is donated to the church, mostly by volunteer parishioners. The dinner is free to everyone, with the only cost being a smile and a thankful heart.
For 47 years, the parish has opened its hall to the entire community on Thanksgiving, turning donated food and volunteer labor into more than a thousand plates served each year. More information is available at the church’s website, https://www.sthelenas1712.org/.
