Hours before doors were scheduled to open, The Chicks postponed their Los Angeles concert at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre due to illness, billboard.com reported.
The trio announced the change on Monday, Nov. 2, pushing the performance back to Wednesday, Nov. 4. Ticket holders who cannot make the rescheduled date can request refunds from their original point of purchase, while all previously bought tickets will remain valid for Wednesday night.
The late-breaking postponement arrives as the group nears the end of their Taking the Long Way 20th anniversary tour. The milestone run celebrates the 2006 release of the album, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and became a defining commercial and critical achievement for Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire, and Emily Strayer.
That record arrived in the wake of a turbulent period for the group. In 2003, during a concert in London, Maines criticized then-President George W. Bush and the Iraq War, triggering intense backlash across parts of the U.S. country music industry and conservative audiences. Protests, boycotts, and radio blackouts followed.

The fallout influenced Taking the Long Way, particularly on the signature single “Not Ready to Make Nice.” The track reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100, directly addressing the pressure to apologize and the trio’s refusal to back down. At the 2007 Grammy Awards, the album dominated by winning five trophies, including album of the year, while “Not Ready to Make Nice” secured both record of the year and song of the year.
The current anniversary tour features Maines, Maguire, and Strayer performing material from the album alongside songs from across their catalog, accompanied by a recently released 20th anniversary edition of the record. Following their 2020 studio album Gaslighter—their first in 14 years—the tour has brought the trio back to theaters and venues across the United States.
The postponed Dolby Theatre performance is now scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 4.
