The three-day celebration in the Bahamas centered on Donald Trump Jr. and Bettina Anderson, featuring expenses such as renting a private island and funding a fireworks display, according to reporting cited by ProPublica.
The financial relationship drew immediate scrutiny from lawmakers because Kremlev maintains close ties to the Russian government and Vladimir Putin. Reporting indicated that Kremlev accompanied Putin to China as part of a Russian delegation and received the Order of Friendship. The wedding financing has drawn scrutiny because it involves a Russian businessman connected to the Kremlin while Russia’s war in Ukraine remains ongoing.
President Trump Defends Arrangement and Confirms Repayment
President Trump did not attend his son’s wedding, stating that the timing was not suitable, but he confirmed he knew about Kremlev’s involvement and discussed it directly with his eldest son. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, the president defended the arrangement as totally allowed

She emphasized that she and Trump Jr. married in a private ceremony surrounded solely by family before the larger festivities.
According to her statement, Kremlev very generously hosted two incredible nights of celebrations for us AFTER our wedding, clarifying that the oligarch financed the after-parties rather than the wedding ceremony itself. ProPublica reported that the funds were routed through a Dubai-based entity affiliated with the International Boxing Association, while a spokesperson for Trump Jr. maintained that Kremlev was not someone with whom he shared a business relationship.
