Vernon Timm passes away in New Richmond following battle with cancer

Vernon Timm, a lifelong resident of the New Richmond area and a skilled tradesman known for his mechanical expertise, passed away on November 6, 2026, after a battle with cancer, according to a report from Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

Born on March 8, 1956, to Virgil and Agnes Timm, Vernon was a member of the New Richmond community for much of his life. A 1974 graduate of New Richmond High School, he built a career centered on manual skill and technical precision, working in various industrial roles across the region.

His professional life was defined by steady work in the local manufacturing and fabrication sectors. Vernon held positions at Blanco, Ideal Door, and Federal Foam before concluding his career at K-Tek. His background in welding and factory work was complemented by a personal passion for mechanical repair and woodworking.

A life defined by craftsmanship and local interests

Beyond his professional roles, Vernon was recognized by those in the community as a “jack of all trades.” He possessed a deep interest in small engine repair and spent much of his spare time engaged in woodworking, specifically showing a talent for Intarsia designs. This meticulous approach to craft extended to his mechanical hobbies, which included rebuilding motors and working on cars.

His connection to the local area was also evident through his interest in motorsports and outdoor recreation. Vernon participated in racing at Cedar Lake Speedway and other regional tracks. When not working on engines or competing, he spent time hunting, fishing, and ice fishing, or simply enjoying motorcycle rides through the Wisconsin landscape.

Family remained a central pillar of his life through various chapters. Following his graduation, he married Susan Olson, with whom he had three children: Vincent, Jessica, and Jonathan. In later years, he married Sandra Ista, and together they welcomed their daughter, Samantha.

Vernon is survived by his wife, Sandra; his children, Jessica, Jonathan (Chuck Prissel), and Samantha; and his grandchildren, Hunter Childs and Abbi Connors. His extended family includes several sisters—Donna Timm, Diane Tainter, Debbie (Gary) Bauermeister, and Dixie (Paul) Erickson—along with a large network of in-laws, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his son, Vincent Timm; his parents, Virgil and Agnes Timm; his father-in-law, Wayne Ista; his grandparents, Vilas and Mildred Timm and William and Agnes Phillips; his aunt, Carol Colbeth; and his uncles, Frank Piechel, Leroy Larson, and Mike Larson.
