Westlake Man Extradited to Baton Rouge for Alleged Double Rape of Two Women

A 20-year-old Westlake man is currently facing serious felony charges in East Baton Rouge Parish following a violent encounter that began with a seemingly routine offer of a ride. Ethan Scott Hallman was arrested at his home in Calcasieu Parish on October 25 and subsequently extradited to Baton Rouge, where he now faces four counts of third-degree rape and two counts of sexual battery, according to reporting by KPLC.

The September Incident in Baton Rouge

The events leading to the arrest date back to the evening of September 26. According to an arrest warrant detailed by The Advocate, Hallman and an unidentified accomplice approached two 18-year-old women near the intersection of Burbank and Jennifer Jean drives around 7:30 p.m. The men were traveling in a Ford F-150 pickup truck and offered the women a ride. The victims accepted, unaware of the violence that investigators say would follow.

The situation turned critical after the group arrived at an apartment complex. Detectives allege that Hallman drove the women to the property, where he proceeded to assault them in a bedroom. Despite the victims’ repeated verbal refusals, investigators claim the assaults continued. One of the victims reported that she and the second man had consensual sex, though she noted she was heavily intoxicated at the time. Detectives stated that the victims were subjected to multiple assaults, during which the men allegedly laughed and recorded video of the acts.

The ordeal reportedly ended after the two women refused to comply with further sexual demands. The unknown accomplice was captured on a doorbell camera fleeing the scene on foot, while Hallman left the premises in his truck shortly thereafter. The victims sought medical attention at a local hospital, where sexual assault examinations confirmed physical trauma consistent with their accounts.

Evidence and Identification

The investigation moved forward after the victims were able to identify Hallman through his social media presence. According to KPLC, the women discovered his first name and successfully identified him in a photographic lineup. This identification was bolstered by surveillance footage from the apartment complex, which investigators say captured Hallman’s truck entering the property shortly before the reported assault.

Following his arrest on October 25, Hallman was held at the Calcasieu Correctional Center under an in-state detainer. He was transferred to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on October 31. As of early November, Hallman has not made a statement to deputies, and his attorney has indicated she is unsure whether he should provide one at this stage of the proceedings.

Legal Stakes Under Louisiana Statute

The charges filed against Hallman carry significant weight under state law. According to the Louisiana Legislature, third-degree rape is defined as sexual intercourse occurring without the victim’s lawful consent under specific statutory circumstances. The additional charges of sexual battery, as noted by state statutes, carry potential prison sentences of up to 10 years per count, which may be served with or without hard labor and without the benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.

While the legal process is underway, several questions remain central to the case. Authorities have yet to identify the second man involved in the incident, and it is not yet clear whether Hallman has entered a formal plea. The identity of the accomplice remains a significant missing piece of the investigation as the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office continues to build its case.
