Yung Filly Cleared of Rape but Guilty of Assault in Perth Trial

British rapper and YouTuber Yung Filly was found not guilty of raping a 20-year-old fan in an Australian hotel room following a trial in Perth. A jury cleared the 30-year-old performer of multiple sexual assault and strangulation charges, while convicting him on two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm.

Trial Verdicts at Perth District Court

The legal proceedings centered on allegations stemming from an Australian tour in September 2024. British rapper and social media influencer Yung Filly—whose legal name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos—faced trial at the District Court of Western Australia pleading not guilty to all charges.

Jurors deliberated from Wednesday afternoon until Friday morning local time before delivering their verdicts. The panel found Barrientos not guilty of three counts of sexual penetration without consent involving a 20-year-old fan he had taken to his hotel room in Hillarys, a coastal suburb of Perth, after a nightclub performance.

Assault Convictions and Hung Jury Counts

While cleared of the most severe sexual assault allegations, Barrientos was not entirely exonerated by the Perth jury. The panel convicted the 30-year-old performer of two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, which stemmed from accusations that he bit the victim’s neck and breast.

Furthermore, the jury could not reach a unanimous decision on three additional counts of sexual penetration without consent. These unresolved counts left a portion of the indictment undecided, creating a hung jury on those specific allegations.

Next Court Appearance and Unresolved Legal Steps

Barrientos remains free on bail as he awaits his next scheduled court appearance on August 21, at which point the court will formally determine his sentencing date for the two assault convictions.

At the same time, prosecutors face decisions regarding the remainder of the case.

Entertainment Career and Public Profile

Before the legal proceedings in Western Australia, Barrientos built a prominent multi-platform media career in the United Kingdom. He gained widespread recognition as a member of the YouTube collective Beta Squad and built an extensive television portfolio.
