Charlie's Angels Stars Reunite at 78th Emmy Awards for 50th Anniversary

The stars of the hit ABC crime drama Charlie's Angels reunited on stage at the 78th annual Primetime Emmys on Monday, Sept. 14, 2026. Jaclyn Smith, Kate Jackson, and Cheryl Ladd took the stage to the tune of the show’s theme song to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the iconic series, which originally premiered on Sept. 22, 1976. According to Deadline, the trio received a standing ovation from the audience before presenting the award for Outstanding Drama Series.

The original series followed three crime-fighting women working at a private detective agency in Los Angeles for their mysterious, unseen boss Charlie Townsend, who was voiced by John Forsythe and directed operations via speakerphone. David Doyle also starred as employee John Bosley for all five seasons. The show’s sensational Season 1 originally starred Smith as Kelly Garrett, Jackson as Sabrina Duncan, and Farrah Fawcett as Jill Munroe. Fawcett departed after the first season and was replaced by Ladd as Jill’s younger sister, Kris Munroe, staying until the series ended its five-season run on ABC in 1981. Jackson departed at the end of Season 3, while Fawcett returned for guest appearances in Seasons 3 and 4.

Tribute to Late Co-Star Farrah Fawcett

Moments before presenting the drama series award, the surviving stars used their time on stage to honor their late co-star, Farrah Fawcett, who died of cancer in June 2009 at the age of 62. Smith told the audience that Fawcett doesn’t need a second season, she’s here, and she’s here with us and in everyone’s collective memory.

Jackson remembered her former castmate by telling the crowd, Farrah was the shiniest angel of all and she was loved by millions of people all over the world and she still is today and they’ll never forget her and neither will we. Ladd added a lighthearted touch to the remembrance, joking, And her iconic poster lives in the minds and the garages of many a man.

History of the Iconic Franchise and Prior Reunions

The 50th-anniversary milestone follows other gatherings throughout the year, including an appearance by Smith, Jackson, and Ladd at a Paley Center celebration in Los Angeles in April, alongside Smith publishing a memoir titled I Once Knew a Guy Name Charlie. Emmy stage appearances hold prior history for the cast; Smith, Jackson, and Fawcett previously reunited at the 58th Emmy Awards in 2006 to honor producer Aaron Spelling, an appearance marked by backstage speech drama and missing teleprompter notes.
