Apache Junction Police Seek Public Help to Identify Photo Victim Linked to Rideshare Driver

Investigators in the Phoenix area are asking for the public’s help to identify an unknown female captured in a photograph recovered from a criminal case involving an Apache Junction rideshare driver, AZCentral reported.

Pedro A. Espinoza Torres, 32, was arrested on September 25 and faces charges including kidnapping, aggravated assault, sexual abuse, and first-degree burglary, according to Apache Junction police spokesperson Rayna Shipp. Investigators state that Espinoza Torres worked as a rideshare driver when he allegedly kidnapped and sexually assaulted an 18-year-old woman in Apache Junction.

During the ongoing investigation, authorities recovered a photograph that they believe shows another potential victim. Shipp stated that police think the image was captured from outside a window, looking into a room at approximately 7:30 p.m. on July 18.

Clues Inside the Room Pictured by Investigators

The female in the photograph is described as a white female between 14 and 25 years of age. She has dark blonde or light brown hair falling just below her shoulders. In the image—which has been intentionally blurred by police—she is seen lying on her side on the floor, wearing denim shorts and a gray T-shirt while playing a board game with an unidentified person.

Police have not specified what crime they suspect Espinoza Torres committed by taking the photograph, nor have they indicated whether the person in the image realized she was being watched or what type of device was used to capture the picture.

Authorities released a detailed list of items visible in the room to help generate leads from anyone who recognizes the setting:

  • A large black shag-style rug
  • Green Crocs-style slip-on shoes
  • A “Sorry!” board game
  • Light-colored flooring and dark furniture
  • A rolling cart positioned against the far wall
  • A yellow Tidy Cats litter container and a clear plastic jug near the window

“Do you recognize this room or any of the items shown? Even a small detail could help investigators identify the location and the person pictured,” Shipp said in a press release.

Anyone possessing information that could assist in identifying the individual or the location of the room is urged to contact police at 480-474-8585 and reference case no. 260924013.
