Argo at Annapolis: New Relief Shading and Caribbean Charts

Annapolis Boat Shows Draw Crowds to Argo Booth Amid Soggy Conditions

Following a two-week run at the Annapolis Boat Shows that concluded with heavy downpours, navigation app developer Argo reported strong user engagement and high demand for its upcoming chart releases, argonav.io reported. Despite water surrounding the company’s tent on the final day of the Powerboat Show, attendees continued to visit the booth, with many already familiar with the software.

The event marked a return to the location where the family-owned company first debuted in 2019. Captain Jeff, who grew up boating on the Chesapeake, noted the strong reception from established users who stopped by simply to share their travel experiences and discuss future software updates.

“That kind of feedback is always rewarding,” Jeff said.

Relief Shading and Fresh ICW Depth Data

The booth’s new features drew significant attention from attendees looking for advanced navigational tools. Argo’s newly introduced relief shading displays bottom contours directly on the chart, allowing boaters to visually identify ledges, shoals, and drop-offs rather than relying solely on individual depth numbers.

The company also highlighted its updated display of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) hydrographic surveys throughout the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) and inland waterways. Because shoals shift and inlets fill in over time, traditional charts can fall years behind actual conditions. The integration of USACE surveys provides boaters with more recent depth information on heavily maintained stretches.

Caribbean Charts Scheduled for Next Month

With the Sailboat Show attracting an international crowd preparing for winter voyages southward, the most frequent question from attendees concerned regional expansion. Argo confirmed that its Caribbean charts are scheduled for release next month, prompting numerous visitors to purchase lifetime subscriptions directly at the booth to prepare for the upcoming season.

Team members reported maintaining a steady presence at the exhibition space throughout the dual-event run. Dave noted he was pinned to the booth for both weeks, while Troy, visiting Annapolis for the first time, observed strong enthusiasm from attendees regarding the platform’s current offerings and future trajectory.
