Registration officially opened for the Spring 2027 BASI Pilates Teacher Training Programs hosted at the University of Idaho, the university reported. The institution will offer two distinct programs through a newly introduced hybrid Flex format designed to accommodate participants looking to build professional credentials or deepen their personal practice.
Hybrid Flex Format Combines Online Study With In-Person Modules
The hybrid setup pairs online lectures with four focused in-person modules covering movement repertoire and physical practice. These hands-on sessions are scheduled to run on Feb. 6-7 and Feb. 27-28, led by a professional guest faculty member from BASI Pilates. Participants who complete the required modules, fulfill necessary practice hours, and pass the tests will earn a Pilates Teacher certificate from the organization.
Global Curriculum Targets Professional Tracks And Personal Growth
BASI Pilates operates globally in fitness education, grounding its curriculum in academic innovation, proper body mechanics, and techniques for guiding movers of all abilities with appropriate exercise modifications. The professional development tracks are open to university employees, alumni, students, and community members alike.

Melanie Meenan, the U of I Pilates education coordinator and lab director, noted the dual purpose of the initiative. “We aim to support participants seeking careers in the Pilates industry or wishing to supplement a career in a related field, as well as those that are interested in engaging in the next level of their own Pilates practice,” Meenan said.
Career Outcomes Offer Direct Paths To Industry Placement
Graduates of past certificate tracks have gone on to teach at fitness centers, work in physical therapy clinics, operate private studios, and tap into the wider international network of BASI instructors. For students currently enrolled at the university, the training offers pathways to earn practicum or internship credit alongside job placement and networking opportunities.
Tiered Tuition Structures Apply Across Standalone And Combined Tracks
Tuition structures for the programs vary depending on the track and registration timeline. For the combined Mat & Reformer program, costs scale upward as the start date approaches:
- $2,700 until Sunday, Nov. 1, requiring a $500 tuition down payment
- $2,775 until Dec. 1
- $2,850 until Jan. 1
- $3,000 after Jan. 1
Meanwhile, tuition for the standalone Mat program is set at $1,350, with $500 due at registration. Space remains limited for both offerings. Participants enrolled in the Mat & Reformer training who wish to pursue further education may continue into the Comprehensive Pilates program at U of I, applying all previously paid tuition toward the higher-level course.
