A Brampton man faces multiple charges after GTA street racing investigation
Tarman Toor, a 24-year-old resident of Brampton, has been arrested and charged following a three-month investigation into a series of illegal street racing incidents across the Greater Toronto Area, CityNews Toronto reported.
The investigation centered on a red BMW M3 that was allegedly used in several high-speed incidents spanning Mississauga and Toronto. Police in the Peel Region tracked the vehicle through multiple sightings, eventually leading to Toor’s arrest on October 28, according to reports from both CityNews Toronto and CP24.
Toor faces a total of nine charges. These include three counts of dangerous operation, three counts of racing a motor vehicle, and three counts of disguise with intent, CP24 reported.
The timeline of the BMW M3 sightings
The incidents began in the early hours of August 30. Peel Regional Police (PRP) stated that just after 1 a.m., officers observed the red BMW M3 participating in an illegal street race near the intersection of Explorer Drive and Satellite Drive in Mississauga.
The vehicle resurfaced nearly a month later. On September 26, investigators allegedly observed the same car racing on two separate occasions in the vicinity of Meadowpine Boulevard and Danbro Crescent in Mississauga, CityNews Toronto reported.

During those September 26 incidents, the driver allegedly ran a red light at the intersection of Winston Churchill Boulevard and Highway 401. The vehicle was later spotted in the area of Clayson Road and Bartor Road in Toronto, according to CityNews Toronto.
Police noted several aggravating factors during the investigation. They alleged the driver was operating the vehicle without license plates and used a ski mask to conceal his identity.
Rising enforcement in Peel Region
The arrest comes amid an intensified crackdown on reckless driving within the region. Peel Regional Police have been tracking many high-speed driving violations throughout the year.
According to data released by the police, the scale of enforcement in the area is substantial. The following table breaks down the enforcement actions taken by Peel Regional Police so far this year:
| Type of Action/Charge | Total Count |
|---|---|
| Stunt driving charges laid | 214 |
| Highway Traffic Act-related arrests | 119 |
Deputy Chief Marc Andrews of the Peel Regional Police addressed the danger posed by these activities in a recent release. He emphasized the service's commitment to maintaining road safety.
“Keeping Peel’s roads safe remains a priority for our service. Illegal street racing is a clear and present danger to all roadway users,” Deputy Chief Marc Andrews said.
Andrews also expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the department’s Safer Roads Team, noting their role in identifying and arresting individuals who put the community at risk, CP24 reported.
While the investigation led to the execution of a Criminal Code search warrant at a Brampton home on October 28, the specific details of what was recovered during that search have not been made public. The allegations against Toor have not yet been tested in court, and he is scheduled to appear before a judge at a later date, according to CP24.
Peel Regional Police are still seeking information regarding these and potentially other incidents. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Safer Roads Team at 905-453-2121, extension 3730.
