McCloud Sidelined for Oklahoma Clash
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Starting defensive tackle Jeramiah McCloud will miss Saturday’s home game against Oklahoma. The No. 25 Gators announced Wednesday that the 6-foot-3, 294-pound sophomore is suspended one game for conduct detrimental to the team.
The decision lands with Florida sitting at 5-3 overall and 3-3 in SEC play, a record that leaves little margin for error as the Gators host the 4-4 Sooners (2-3 SEC).
McCloud, a product of Sylvester, Georgia, had started five of Florida’s eight games this season. His 22 tackles, including 1½ for loss, will be difficult to replace against an Oklahoma offense that has found its footing in the second half of the season.
🚨🐊 Florida #Gators defensive lineman Jeremiah McCloud has been suspended for conduct detrimental to the team. He will miss the Oklahoma game, and Florida will reevaluate his status with the program afterward.
The suspension is not McCloud’s first brush with public scrutiny this fall. Earlier in the season, he was caught on video making an obscene gesture toward fans late in a loss at Missouri, an incident that had already put his on-field conduct under the microscope in Gainesville.
Ugorji, Robinson Among Wednesday’s Injury Scratches
McCloud’s absence is only part of a thinning depth chart. Also on Wednesday, Florida ruled out starting right tackle Emeka Ugorji and backup linebacker Jaden Robinson because of injuries.

Receiver Vernell Brown III, who has been out for the past four games with a sprained right knee, was ruled doubtful after excess fluid was drained from his knee late last week and he received a platelet-rich plasma injection on Monday. Defensive end Emmanuel Oyebadejo and receiver Bailey Stockton, two of the team’s top players this season, were listed as questionable.
One-Game Hit Could Echo Beyond Norman
The team said McCloud’s status with the program will be reevaluated after this week’s contest, leaving open the question of whether the one-game benching extends beyond Norman.
