The Florida Tech men’s and women’s swimming teams set a high bar on Friday, Oct. 30, securing three new school records and eight NCAA B-Cut qualifying times during the Second Annual Florida Tech Classic.
Record-Breaking Pace in the Pool
The momentum began early in the meet when the men’s 200 Free Relay team—comprised of Caleb Rohacs, Andy Pleiman, Manuel Brander, and Akos Hajagos—clocked a 1:19.43. This performance not only secured an NCAA B-Cut time but also put the squad a full second ahead of the competition from Indian River State. Individually, Rohacs set the tone for the relay by hitting a B-Cut time of 20.23 as the leadoff swimmer.
Akos Hajagos continued to be a standout performer throughout the afternoon. He claimed victory in the 200 IM with an NCAA qualifying time of 1:48.98, contributing 20 team points. Further cementing his impact on the record books, Hajagos touched the wall in 50.52 during the 100 IM, establishing a new Florida Tech program record.
Depth Across the Roster
The women’s squad saw similar success, headlined by Melissa Zucco. Her performance in the 100 Back earned her an NCAA qualifying time of 55.77. Zucco also shattered her own previous school record in the 200 Back, finishing with a new mark of 2:00.75.

The breaststroke events proved equally fruitful for the Panthers. Grace Largent took second place in the 100 Breast with a B-Cut time of 1:04.01. On the men’s side, River Streefland secured second place in the 100 Breast with a time of 53.43—a result that officially stands as the third new school record set by Florida Tech during the meet.
