Getaway Driver Arrested in Fatal Columbus Shooting Case

Raychan Williams faces murder charge in Columbus shooting death

A second arrest has been made in connection with a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a 25-year-old woman in Columbus earlier this month. According to reports from abc6onyourside.com, investigators have identified 33-year-old Raychan Williams—known by the street name “Psycho”—as the suspected getaway driver in the incident.

The investigation stems from a violent confrontation on Nov. 4 at a home on Gibbard Avenue. Columbus police responded to the scene at 815 Gibbard Avenue following multiple reports of gunfire. The shooting left two women critically injured; both were rushed to Grant Medical Center, where Indya Dickerson, 25, later died from her wounds.

Detectives with the Columbus Police Homicide Unit have laid out a timeline of the escape that led to Williams’ recent arrest. Investigators allege that Williams initially fled the scene without the shooter, but later returned to the residence to pick them up. This alleged return to the scene forms the basis of the murder charge against him.

Christian Houchins identified as the shooter

While Williams faces charges for his role in the escape, the person accused of pulling the trigger has also been taken into custody. Police identified 34-year-old Christian Houchins as the shooter. Authorities state that the deadly gunfire was the result of a domestic dispute between Houchins and Dickerson.

The legal complications for Houchins extend beyond this specific shooting. Court records indicate that Houchins already had an active bench warrant at the time of his arrest because he failed to appear for a trial involving previous charges of domestic violence and assault. Investigators also noted that he has been linked to other violent crimes in the past.

The legal proceedings for both men are moving forward in the Columbus court system:

  • Christian Houchins: Charged with murder and felonious assault. He was arraigned Thursday morning and is being held on a $3 million bond.
  • Raychan Williams: Charged with murder. He was arraigned Saturday morning.

A preliminary hearing for Williams is currently scheduled for Nov. 16.

The rapid escalation from a domestic dispute to a multi-defendant murder case highlights the immediate and devastating impact of domestic violence within the community. As the legal process unfolds, the focus remains on the specific actions taken by both the shooter and the driver during those critical moments on Gibbard Avenue.
