Grand River Connection to Host Morning Mingle on Local Experiences

Lansing Unwrapped Brings Local Experience Gifting to MSUFCU This November

Put down the Amazon app and skip the mall entirely. This November, the Grand River Connection is pivoting holiday shopping away from plastic gift cards and mass-produced items toward local experiences. The organization is hosting a morning gathering designed to pitch soap-making classes, cooking lessons, and zoo animal encounters as practical alternatives to traditional retail items.

Event organizers point out that local experiences cannot be returned and arguably offer a more memorable dynamic than standard gift cards. The programming targets shoppers searching for difficult-to-buy-for family members, friends who seemingly have everything, or anyone wanting to explore the local 517 region.

Panelists and Practical Details for East Lansing

The morning panel brings together three distinct local business and organization leaders to map out the strategy for experience-based gifting. The lineup features Danielle Hastings, owner of Sylvia’s Sudsery; Regina Pericini, food and beverage director at Bradly’s HG; and Erin O’Rourke, fund development specialist for The Potter Park Zoo Society.

The event is scheduled to take place at MSUFCU, located at 311 Abbott Rd. in East Lansing, on Wednesday, November 18, 2026. Running from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, the morning session is entirely free to attend and includes a complimentary coffee and light breakfast for participants.

MSUFCU Sponsors Morning Mingle Through 2026

The financial backing for the Morning Mingle comes from MSUFCU, continuing its role as the presenting sponsor for Grand River Connection throughout 2026. By utilizing the credit union’s East Lansing facility, the program aims to connect local professionals and residents directly with experience providers right in their own backyard.

Whether attendees leave with a firm blueprint for holiday purchasing or simply a renewed perspective on regional attractions will be clear when the panelists take the stage next month.
