The Severed Hand That Stopped New York
“Hands down, the hardest thing is carrying it,” Heidi Klum said of her latest Halloween creation, which required five to six hours of prosthetic application before making its debut in New York on Saturday.

Marking the 25th anniversary of her annual costume party, the German-American model and television personality arrived completely unrecognisable as a giant, gruesome severed human hand. The top of the limb ended in a gory assortment of dangling ligaments and tendons, with only Klum’s eyes and mouth showing as she posed with blood dripping past her teeth alongside a team of assistants in blood-stained hazmat suits.
The concept originated the previous year when Klum looked at her own left hand and wondered if she could fit her entire body inside a sculpted replica. The finished piece featured her signature long red nails, a thumb ring, her actual engagement ring and wedding band, and a tattoo of her husband Tom Kaulitz’s name on the ring finger. Kaulitz was absent from the event due to touring commitments.
Celebrity Transformations Across the Weekend
The milestone anniversary celebration drew a roster of high-profile guests in New York, while other notable figures hosted or attended gatherings elsewhere. Actress Zendaya drew attention by recreating Halle Berry’s look from the 2000 New York premiere of X-Men, wearing a patterned bikini top and low-rise trousers. Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka dressed as the twins from The Shining, and musician CMAT appeared as Elton John in a fluffy white outfit complete with a receding blonde wig and a gold tooth.

Across the Atlantic, other figures marked the holiday. Traitors host Maya Jama held her own party in London, attending dressed as four-time Olympic champion Sir Mo Farah. Additional looks from Klum’s New York blue carpet included Laura Abla recreating Madonna, Britney Spears, and Christina Aguilera’s 2003 MTV Video Music Awards performance, alongside guests dressed as Miley Cyrus from Hannah Montana and an oversized bag of chips from Klum’s own snack collaboration.
A Quarter Century of Spectacle
The annual gathering has evolved over two and a half decades. Klum’s previous appearances include arriving encased in a slithering prosthetic earthworm on a fishing line in 2022, as well as dressing as the Greek mythological figure Medusa, a peacock, an eight-foot Transformer toy, a werewolf from Michael Jackson’s Thriller music video, a clone accompanied by several identical lookalikes, and Kali, the multi-armed Hindu goddess of death and destruction.
