Huntsville Welcomes First Syrian Cafe Amid a Wave of Ten New Openings and Two Closings
Huntsville’s restaurant and retail businesses are changing yet again. Hville Blast reported a flurry of business activity across the city, highlighted by the grand opening of Huntsville’s first Syrian cafe, alongside nine other new openings and business updates. While new storefronts like Mazaj Cafe mark an expansion in local dining diversity, the retail sector is also adjusting to losses, including the permanent closure of a farm-to-table restaurant that debuted less than a year ago.
From Syrian Coffee to Craft Studios Across the City
Among the ten new openings and updates detailed by Hville Blast, the debut of Huntsville’s first Syrian cafe stands out as a milestone for the local dining scene. Alongside Mazaj Cafe, the city’s commercial map is expanding with several notable projects:
- Ditto Landing: Progress continues on the riverfront event center expansion, with new renderings released by the Madison County Commission.
- Retail Additions: New spots joining the local mix include Maison Rose—noted for its distinctive pink exterior—alongside The Reset Studio, Kilwins, and Marcus La Fleur Bookshop.
- Eateries and Services: L’Etoile Patisserie has relocated with a selection of fall treats, while Louisiana’s Hot Chicken and Grammy’s House—located on Jordan Lane—open their doors.
- Hometown Studio: A new craft studio in Madison offering workshops, take-home kits, and a Craft Cafe, located at 525 Hughes Rd, operating Thursday through Sunday.
Permanent Closures Hit Downtown Huntsville and Retail Spaces
While the ledger tilts heavily toward new ventures, two notable businesses are calling it quits in Huntsville. Hville Blast reported that Brick & Tin, the farm-to-table restaurant located at 222 Washington St NE, has permanently closed. Having opened its doors on December 12, 2025, the restaurant built a respectable 4.3-star rating on Google reviews, serving a menu of paninis, salads, soups, and bowls.
Retail also faces a contraction as popular jewelry shop Venus Glamour announced on Sunday, November 1, that its Huntsville storefront would be closing after November. The company indicated that “not much is changing” operationally, as the brand transitions its base to Nashville and continues to appear in local markets and pop-ups.
