Stacey Solomon Calls Media Intrusion at Pickle Cottage “Outrageous”
“To me that’s no longer of public interest,” Stacey Solomon said. “It’s outrageous, in fact.”
The 37-year-old television presenter stated that certain media behavior directed at her family “should be illegal,” describing experiences of being followed to private events and having photographers wait outside her Essex home. Solomon and her husband, Joe Swash, share their property—known as Pickle Cottage—with their children. The couple features in the reality series Stacey & Joe, which launched in 2025 and documents their day-to-day life alongside their ducks and two dogs.
Drawing the Line Between Public Life and Family Privacy
Speaking ahead of the return of her BBC reality programme, Solomon acknowledged that participating in celebrity culture carries an inherent level of public scrutiny. However, she emphasized that clear boundaries are routinely crossed.
“I think for a long time in celebrity culture, there was this expectation that you put yourself in the public eye so you deserve this treatment,” she said. “If me and Joe go out in the public and there happens to be somebody there and they get a picture of us, that’s fair game. That’s part and parcel of this industry. We do draw the line though.”

Solomon described feeling “harassed” and “stalked” by the media amid a recent social media post concerning her personal life. “There’s no need to be followed around to family events. It should be illegal – these are kids. It’s just weird,” she stated. Solomon added that while she recognizes she signed up for aspects of public life, that acceptance has limits. “You pick your battles in those instances because you realise you’ve signed up to this – but to an extent. You feel like you’re being stalked.”
Future Impact and Return to BBC One
The former Loose Women panellist indicated that the heightened media intrusion has forced her to reevaluate what she shares online with her followers. “Maybe it will make us think of things differently moving forward,” she said, noting that she hopes to stand her ground against inappropriate behavior. “The safety of my family comes before absolutely everything.”
Solomon rose to fame on ITV talent show The X Factor in 2009. She met Swash in 2010 during her time on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, where he co-hosted the spin-off. The couple has been together since 2016 and married in 2022. They share three children together—Rex, born in 2019; Rose, born in 2021; and Belle, born in 2023—in addition to children from previous relationships.
The series of Stacey & Joe is scheduled to return to BBC One on Tuesday, November 10, at 8 p.m., with all episodes made available on BBC iPlayer.
