Indiana Men’s Basketball Cruises Past Bellarmine 92-69 Behind 23 Points from Darren Harris

Indiana men’s basketball improved to 2-0 on the season with a 92-69 wire-to-wire victory over Bellarmine University Thursday night at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Bloomington. According to Indiana Daily Student coverage, the Cream and Crimson built a commanding 50-26 advantage by halftime and never looked back, paced by guard Darren Harris opening the scoring with a three-pointer from the top of the key.

The Daily Hoosier reported that Harris finished with a career-high 23 points, shooting 5 of 10 from beyond the arc. Indiana shot 12 of 28 from long range overall before reserves missed their final six attempts once the outcome was settled. The Hoosiers’ offense clicked at an elite level, connecting on 67.8% of their two-point field goal attempts and generating 1.42 points per possession.

Bench Production and Inside Efficiency Power the Hoosiers

While the perimeter shooting drew immediate notice, the frontcourt production kept the scoreboard ticking. Aiden Sherrell, Samet Yigitoglu, and Sam Alexis combined to shoot 12 of 14 from the field. Indiana’s nine-man rotation proved its depth when the bench contributed 46 points—accounting for exactly half of the team’s total scoring output.

Bryce Lindsay chipped in 15 points, Alexis added 12, and freshman Trevor Manhertz chipped in nine off the bench, including two makes on three attempts from deep. This production insulated the starting backcourt on a night when point guard Markus Burton went 0 for 7 from the field. Despite 12 total turnovers, the Hoosiers committed just three giveaways in the opening twenty minutes while constructing their 24-point halftime cushion.

Looking Ahead to Syracuse at Gainbridge Fieldhouse

Bellarmine attempted to chip away coming out of the locker room, outscoring Indiana by three points over the opening four minutes of the second half. However, a drought-breaking three-pointer from Manhertz at the 12:37 mark halted any realistic comeback bid. Indiana eventually stretched its lead to a game-high 30 points with 4:15 remaining before head coach Darian DeVries emptied his bench.

The Hoosiers now have three days off to prepare for their next matchup. Indiana returns to action Monday, Nov. 9, to face Syracuse University at 6:30 p.m. inside Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, with the game broadcast on Fox Sports 1.
