Grand Jury Indicts 17-Year-Old in First Friday Killing

A grand jury has officially indicted a 17-year-old suspect in connection with the fatal shooting that occurred during the First Friday festival in downtown Las Vegas last month. Issac Manriquez now faces multiple felony charges, including one count of murder with the use of a deadly weapon, with the indictment alleging the act was committed to promote, further, or assist a criminal gang.

The legal filing, which was processed on Friday, also charges Manriquez with two counts of battery with the use of a deadly weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm and one count of carrying a concealed explosive substance, firearm, pneumatic gun, or other dangerous weapon. According to reports from KSNV, the incident stems from a violent confrontation between two groups of individuals that broke out near the intersection of Main Street and Charleston Boulevard on October 2.

The shooting resulted in the death of 15-year-old Carth Onasi Jacobs-Rodgers. Investigators noted that the violence erupted in the large crowds of the First Friday arts and culture festival. Manriquez reportedly admitted to detectives that the shooting followed a physical altercation between the two groups.
